How to use AI to plan meals and make a grocery list

Deciding what to cook is a small decision you make every day, which is why it wears people out. An assistant can propose a week of meals and turn them into a shopping list.

Updated . General information for everyday use, not professional advice.

Describe your household, not just the food

Copy and adapt
Plan 5 weeknight dinners for [2 adults and 1 child]. Each should take under [30] minutes, use mostly [pantry staples], and fit a [modest] budget. We do not eat [pork]. Say which meals reheat well for lunch.

The more real limits you include (time, budget, dislikes, what is already in the fridge), the less generic the plan.

Cook from what you already have

Use up the fridge
I have [chicken thighs, rice, a bag of spinach, half an onion, yogurt]. Suggest 3 dinners I can make mostly from this, and tell me the 2 or 3 extra things I would need to buy.

Turn the plan into a shopping list

Ask for the list grouped by aisle (produce, dairy, cans and dry goods), combined across all the meals, with quantities. Then remove what you already own.
