How to use AI to write a cover letter that doesn't sound like AI
Hiring managers read a lot of cover letters that open with "I am excited to apply" and say nothing specific. An assistant writes those in seconds. It can also help you write a better one, if you give it the right material.

Give it real material
The draft can only be as specific as what you give it: the job ad, the experience that fits, and why you want this role. Leave out your address and phone number.
Here's a job ad: [paste]. Here are two things from my experience that fit it: [describe them, with real numbers if you have them]. Draft a cover letter under 250 words that opens with why I want this role, not with "I am excited to apply". Use only the facts I gave you.
Make it yours
- Rewrite the first and last lines yourself. They are the ones people remember.
- Cut any sentence that could appear in anyone's letter.
- Read it aloud. If it doesn't sound like you on a good day, keep editing.
